On October 26, Dr Roberta Perna (CSIC) will take the floor in the workshop “Caring in the Rural World: New Scenarios, New Challenges – A working day on care, community and social innovation in rural areas”. Supported by the Municipality of El Franco in Asturias, the workshop is organised in framework of the LAZOS programme which tackles the challenges of living in, or leaving rural areas.
Dr Perna’s presentation will address the growing interest in integrating housing and long-term care as a way to support ageing in place and strengthen community-based support in rural areas.
Drawing on research conducted within the LeTs-Care project, she will provide an overview of innovative housing and care initiatives across several European countries, highlighting the diversity of approaches and the importance of understanding the institutional, social and community contexts that enable them to succeed.
She will also address the opportunities opened by the recent reform of the Spanish long-term care system to promote more integrated, person-centred and community-oriented models of care and support.
