This insight presents some mid‑term reflections about the LeTs‑Care project, which aims to bridge the gap between high‑level policy and the diverse realities on the ground, as Europe prepares new action plans under the Pillar of Social Rights. Against a backdrop of demographic change and rising demand for affordable, quality provisions, the project provides context‑sensitive evidence to inform the The LeTs‑Care’s research shows how concepts such as “care”, “needs” and “quality of care” shift across national settings. Drawing on 18 ethnographic case studies and 150 interviews, it reveals how long‑term care is shaped by historical legacies, institutional logics and cultural expectations, explaining why solutions that succeed in one country may falter in another. These findings offer grounded insights to support more coherent, locally attuned policy development across Member States.
