Porto Meeting: Innovative Research Strand on Ethnographic Work

From 10–12 February 2025, the LeTs-Care Consortium gathered in Porto for a meeting hosted by the University of Porto. Building on earlier discussions, the group continued to refine shared understandings of key care-related concepts, such as needs, care, and sustainability.

A specific focus of the meeting was the project’s ethnographic research. This phase looks closely at real-life long-term care (LTC) practices, using observation to uncover the often implicit logics that guide everyday care work. The aim is to highlight both the coherence and the tensions that shape these practices.

The Porto meeting marked an important step, as theoretical reflections began to connect with fieldwork and practice-based insights, preparing the ground for the next stages of the project.
